Loans are available for students studying part-time at UBC. To be considered a part-time student, you must be registered in 20% to 59% of the full-time load listed for your program, which you can check on the Course Load Guide.
Not all programs are eligible for part-time funding. You must be in a program approved for full-time student loans. Contact your Enrolment Services Advisor to check if your program is approved. If you don't have an assigned advisor, they're still available to help.
Part-time funding is suitable for you if you meet one of the following criteria:
- You need support for educational expenses like tuition, books, and transportation.
- You require assistance in paying for childcare while attending school.
- You have established permanent disability status with the lender. Students with 40% to 59% of a full course load and permanent disability status qualify for full-time loans and should submit a full-time loan application.
Part-time funding does not cover living costs. If you need additional financial support for living costs, please contact your Enrolment Services Advisor to discuss your financial plan.
